TÜRKAK and international recognition
TÜRKAK, the Turkish Accreditation Agency, is Türkiye's national accreditation body and a signatory of the EA MLA and the ILAC MRA. Results from a TÜRKAK-accredited laboratory therefore carry international recognition.
Accreditation is the independent confirmation that a laboratory is competent to perform a defined scope of tests. The assessment criterion is ISO/IEC 17025; how we implement the standard is described on our ISO 17025 consulting page. This page covers the accreditation-body side of the process.
Common reasons accreditation projects stall
- A scope schedule that defines methods, matrices or ranges ambiguously
- Incomplete application files leading to repeated requests
- Staff struggling to explain their own system during the assessment
- Nonconformities closed at symptom level rather than root cause
The accreditation process, step by step
- Readiness. The management system is implemented and operated; validation, uncertainty and quality control work is complete.
- Scope and application. Tests, methods and matrices become a scope schedule; the application file is prepared against the body's current requirements.
- Document review. The accreditation body reviews your management system documentation.
- On-site assessment. Assessors evaluate the system and technical competence and witness tests.
- Closing nonconformities. Root cause analysis and corrective actions are submitted with evidence.
- Decision and maintenance. Accreditation is maintained through surveillance and reassessment visits.
Application prerequisites (for example proficiency testing participation or how long the system must have been operating) are set by the accreditation body's current rules and guidance documents. We check them for every project.
ISO 17025 audit preparation
- Mock assessment in the same format as the real visit, covering management and technical requirements
- Scope schedule that is clear and defensible
- Staff preparation for witnessed tests and interviews
- Record checks confirming traceability from sample receipt to report
- Nonconformity management with root cause analysis and evidence packages
Already accredited?
We support scope extensions, method transitions, standard revisions and preparation for surveillance and reassessment. Regular internal audits and a sound proficiency testing plan are the foundation of maintaining accreditation.
